LA LEGGENDA DELLA MADONNA DELL’ABITO
La leggenda racconta che nel castello del marchese di Passirano, durante il medioevo, fu rinvenuto un busto della Madonna dai servitori durante le pulizie quotidiane. Nel corso di varie mattine, tuttavia, il busto cambiava posto nei locali. Colpito dai particolari avvenimenti, il marchese, fervente fedele, lo fece restaurare in una bottega a Brescia, dove fu esposto in vetrina. In città, il bellissimo busto iniziò ad operare grazie e miracoli nei confronti dei passanti che si fermavano ad ammirarlo, come guarigioni, conversioni e pentimenti. Il clamore suscitato dagli avvenimenti colpì la popolazione della città al punto che, quando il marchese reclamò il diritto di riportare il busto miracoloso nel proprio paese, molte persone si riunirono di fronte la bottega per impedire all’opera di lasciare la città. I Passiranesi accorsero per forzare il blocco e lo scontro fu evitato solo per la miracolosa intercessione della Madonna che, si dice, calmò gli animi. Quando il busto tornò in Passirano fu accolto da una vera e propria festa degli abitanti e il marchese scelse di custodirlo in una chiesetta dedicata, accessibile a tutti, che divenne presto meta di pellegrinaggi.

Legend has it that in the castle of the Marquis of Passirano, during the Middle Ages, a bust of the Madonna was found by servants during daily cleaning. Over the course of several mornings, however, the bust changed places in the premises. Struck by the particular events, the Marquis, a fervent believer, had it restored in a workshop in Brescia, where it was displayed in the shop window. In the city, the beautiful bust began to work graces and miracles on passers-by who stopped to admire it, such as healings, conversions and repentances. The uproar caused by the events affected the city's population to such an extent that, when the marquis claimed the right to bring the miraculous bust back to his own town, many people gathered in front of the workshop to prevent the work from leaving the city. The Passiranesi rushed to force the blockade and the clash was avoided only through the miraculous intercession of the Madonna, who, it is said, calmed the spirits. When the bust returned to Passirano, it was greeted by a veritable celebration by the inhabitants and the Marquis chose to keep it in a dedicated church, accessible to all, which soon became a pilgrimage destination.
